One of the best things about Disco Elysium by far is that it does not fear ugly women. The world is full of ugly men, but ugly women are so hard to come by.
#I'm not calling the characters ugly btw#i don't believe any one can be ugly#i do not care for beauty standards and thus i don't rank people based on how “ugly” or “pretty” they are#but the characters in DE do not meet the conventional beauty standards and look like actual people with unique faces#and thus would be considered “ugly”#and that is so important to me. i go feral whenever media represents how people look like in real life and not how they look like in the#fictional parallel universe where everyone is a model and where a majority of the movies take place#because irl you don't have to be a model to be desirable#the most attractive man in any video game I've ever played has a receding hairline and a big nose and thick glasses and a small chin#and not only is representing realistic people. just good. in general. but it makes the character of Dolores Dei stand out so much more which#works for the game so well. she's barely human. she's a deity- a myth- a legend. the only version that exists of her now is the one with#glowing lungs. she's perfectly beautiful because she's inhuman. the fact that everybody else looks so human only highlights how inhuman she#has become yk?#if everyone was as conventionally attractive as her then she wouldn't stand out. we wouldn't get why she's so special.#disco elysium#disco elysium analysis#media analysis#beauty standards#this is only one aspect of how this game portrays real people btw. as someone interested in character design this just immediately stood out#to me#the first time i noticed it was when i first met garte and the second time was when i met ruby because neither are conventionally desirable#oh my fucking god the nerds who complain about a woman with a model face having body hair in a video game would perish if they played this#mainstream game/movie studios catering to western masses could never

Ok but this means Kate Stewart has now been part of the 50th anniversary, BBC centenary, *and* the 60th anniversary. She’ll have met four, possibly five Doctor regenerations, two Masters, a number of companions from Ace to Yaz to Donna, and will have been present in episodes by all three New Who showrunners.
Love that for her.

Today I’m looking for a good reason for IAU Legend to have the nickname Legend. I’m thinking it should be something to do with his middle name but having it literally be “Legend” seems really presumptuous for Time and Malon to pick (even if they would mean it more like a reference to stories of old instead of a “hey our kid is amazing” kind of thing). So I was looking up synonyms for Legend but there aren’t really any good ones (apart from Fable but that would be weird). And I couldn’t find and good names that mean “Legend” either. So I thought maybe a translation of Legend in a different language would be interesting, maybe Latin or something, but I wasn’t finding any good anything on any of the sites I looked at and languages aren’t really my thing so I haven’t really gotten anywhere

A yokai that expects only faithfulness in love, even should she disappear without a word. Surprisingly warm-hearted despite her chilling nature.

I’m really mixed on this…
I felt like trying to do something Norse myth related so I decided to draw Freyja since goddesses associated with love and beauty are usually the easiest for me to draw. For the most part I really like it but there’s two main issues I have with it. For one, she looks like she’s sliding off Hildisvíni, which could work but wasn’t my intent and I should have drawn the boar lower. Secondly, and I think this is the most noticeable, my attempt to pull from the historical medieval period in Scandinavia (with some clear liberties such as hairstyle, etc.) means that to the average person, it doesn’t read as “Viking” age. Whoops. I still really like the design though.

Current status: a maiden living in her mother's shadow, doesn't have a name besides: girl
Wants from a relationship: eternal devotion, cyclical waiting and returning to simbolize life and love progressing on earth and beyond, eating pomegranates togheter, sharing the crown and kingdom of the underworld with my husband, to be called: "bringer of death" after marriage
Is waiting for: the earth to open up and teleport me to a world were someone else besides my mother cares about me

Do we think that Clarisse was a happy kid? That she smiled a lot and loved training and had her mom send her to all the martial arts classes near their house and she was happy? Cause I think so. It wasn’t until camp halfblood that she turned bitter. Vicious. She was the daughter of a god. The war god, and she had to make him proud. But he never showed up, never showed any recognition. The first time she met him, he didn’t even know her name. So she studied up on Ares and learned the best techniques to gut your opponent and the best ways to terrorize people in hope to achieve even a glimpse of acceptance from her father. And one day she heard him saying that he hates his kids. And Clarisse has no reason to fight anymore, because she’ll never earn her father’s love. But she cannot stop now, because fighting is all she’s known for far too long.

✶ ⠀ klaudia fontaine « sweet as kandi »
Tumblr media
born july 14th, 1989, in atlanta, georgia, klaudia fontaine would be raised as the only daughter out of five children. with her father, a producer himself, and her mother, a high school english teacher, she’s described by family to have been born with a musical gift. her father describes her as ‘his only child with an interest in music’ as her four older brothers would go on to pursue careers in stem fields. growing up in the church, she began playing piano at four years old, then joining choir at six.
the stage name kandi came about as a childhood nickname due to her widely known sweet tooth. ‘she was never seen without a piece of candy in her mouth, but never, ever had a single cavity,’ her mother would go on to say. ‘all the sugar went to her voice. people loved her voice.’ at sixteen, she would move to new york to stay with an aunt, landing small gigs throughout high school to sing at small restaurants and bars—ultimately landing her a gig as a demo singer.
her career was launched when she was discovered through one of her gig appearances, unknowingly performing in front a talent manager from elysium records, an up and coming music company. quick to bank on her singing voice, she was signed not too long after, marketed as a diamond in the rough. snippets of covers and demos alike were purposely leaked to the public to amp hype up around her debut. namely, a cover of amy winehouse’s ‘tears dry own their own’ would skyrocket her name into the public eye.
just a few days shy of turning eighteen, klaudia would release her four-track debut studio album ‘eternal youth’ on july 8th, 2007, leading with the pre release single titled ‘bad behavior’. with the heavy marketing, klaudia’s popularity skyrocketed—‘bad behavior’ landing her a spot on the billboard top 200 for six weeks straight at #4. ‘sugar’, ‘sneaky’, and ‘be your girl’ landing spots in the 10s and 20s. the exposure pushed her into the limelight, tabloids and new sites alike clambering over themselves at the story of a young girl who pushed her company into the spotlight.
over the next few years, she would release four albums underneath elysium, fame and fortune surrounding the name. performances at music awards shows would only award her more for her musical achievements, eventually claiming some for herself for the course of her career. though 2011 would hint at the true greediness lurking behind the scenes, with her releasing a long rant on twitter exposing the way elysium had taken advantage of her. the thread would go viral a few days after the release of her fifth and final single album, both completing her contract with the company and showcasing the truth behind what she had gone through.
laying low after her explosive departure from elysium, she would disappear from the public spotlight for the next two years, her name resurfacing via a fan posting a picture to twitter of her and a seemingly more happier klaudia in south korea. the picture would go viral within the next 24 hours, fans pestering the artist until klaudia herself would confirm the news with a post to her long deserted instagram account. a few weeks later, news began circulating of her signing with a label as a producer, having worked on her own music in between releases at elysium. the label, blitz inc., owned by seo minkyung, would confirm the news soon after.
though she would help produce hits under blitz, recognized through her notable tag ‘sweet like kandi’, she was found to be credited under groups like nct and seventeen, pushing her name further into mainstream media. 2014 would bring yet another album, ‘krystallized’, releasing what is known as her second most commercially successful body of work to date. 2016 is when she would finally be entered into the komca credits list, recognized for her work with groups like red velvet, exo, shinee, and many more.
in 2015, what was described by the press as a ‘sudden awakening’ lit up news sites. an ex employee of blitz leaked a few of klaudia’s demos for blitz girl group starlite, causing major comeback delays. this lead to klaudia slamming blitz with mismanagement claims, to which the company ignored in favor of trying to salvage starlite’s steadily sinking career. it was revealed to the public that klaudia’s voice had been used in the backtrack of nearly all of the group’s songs, her voice even being warped and mixed to sound like the various members of the group. klaudia filed a lawsuit against blitz, leading to a near two-year legal battle finally won in 2017. she, and other producers under blitz, walked out of the company with nullified contracts.
laying low for a few months once again, she would surprise the public by launching her own label in 2017 to house herself and fellow producers officially known as aura. 2018 would mark the start of a solo career, releasing her most widely acclaimed album to date titled ‘krush’. this would win her many awards and nominations, including her first billboard #1 and million streamed songs.
in 2020, after a year of meetings with executives and the man himself, klaudia made the business decision to merge with jyp entertainment. the news made headlines both domestically and globally, especially with the news that artists underneath both companies already knew each other before the merger. though most agreed the decision was most definitely a financial one, netizens couldn’t help but notice the quality of the music under aura also rising significantly.
klaudia is described by her staff as someone who genuinely cares about the music she and others create—almost to a fault. she’s kind, authentic, and incredibly supportive while valuing constructive criticism that aides the artists instead of bringing them down.
